Sherri (Sharron) Smith, age 63, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2019, at UAB West Hospital in Bessemer. She was born January 09, 1956, to James (Jimmy) and Sharon (Anderson) Denton. She was a 1976 graduate of Midfield High School.

Sherri was married to the late Randy Smith on August 18, 1979 and resided in Lipscomb, AL. She worked as a Teacher’s Aid with the Jefferson County School System, where all the students loved and adored her and everyone knew her as “Ms. Smith”. Sherri truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; cooking, reading, tailgating in the fall with her Dad during Alabama football season and spending time with her daughter, Sasha.

Sherri had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She is survived by her daughter, Sasha Looney; son-in law, Allen Looney; parents; Jimmy & Sharon Denton; sister, Barbara Mason; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many dear friends. Family, friends, and others whose lives Sherri touched are invited to the Valhalla Funeral Home, 5317 Bessemer Super Hwy, Midfield, AL 35228, from 12 noon – 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, to reminisce, grieve, support each other, and of course, just chat.
