Shirley’s Obituary Shirley Ann Spilde, 70, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at her home south of Beresford, SD. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, January 11 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Beresford, SD. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, January 10 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford, SD.

Shirley Anderson was born November 18, 1948 in Sioux Falls, SD to Henning and Mary (Brass) Anderson. She grew up in Beresford and graduated from Beresford High School in 1967. She attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD.

She met Gerhard “Gary” Spilde and they married on August 4, 1972. They were blessed with their two children, Kyle and Kayla. Shirley worked production at Raven, first in Beresford then in Sioux Falls.

She retired in 2010. She enjoyed being the official lawn mower on their acreage, fishing with Gary, cooking her scrumptious goulash and taverns, baking and listening to oldies music. She loved attending her kids’ events and even devoted time as a troop leader for the Boy Scouts.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she participated in Ladies Aid. If there was a need, Shirley was willing to help. She was a giving person and truly loved spending time with her family and dear friends.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Gary, Beresford, SD; her children, Kyle Spilde, Sioux Falls, SD and Kayla Spilde, Alcester, SD; and her sister, Barbara Anderson, Beresford, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henning and Mary (Brass) Anderson. Memorial donation may be directed to The Alzheimer’s Association, South Dakota Chapter.
