Obituary for Shirley D Norseen Funeral Services for Shirley D. Norseen have been postponed to Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church in Minden. Visitation will be as scheduled from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the church. Shirley Darlene (Jorgensen) Norseen, 84, of Minden, passed away Friday morning at Bethany Home of complications associated with Alzheimer’s Dementia.

Shirley was born November 11, 1933 to W.D. and Evelyn (Hartley) Jorgensen in Minden, Nebraska. She graduated from Minden High School where she enjoyed countless involvements and was honored to be Minden’s first Homecoming Queen. She married Dale G. Norseen on October 12, 1952.

They met on a blind date when she was a telephone operator and Dale was a telephone lineman. Shirley was a homemaker, and a teachers’ aide for Upland and Norman schools. She and Dale also derived enormous enjoyment and the making of new friends through the operation of their Prairie View Bed and Breakfast for many years.

She is survived by her daughters, Marcelyn Holmes, and her husband, Douglas of Kearney; Tamara Petersen, and her husband Bruce, of Minden; and her son, Brent of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her survivors also include her grandchildren, William, Andrew and his wife, Heather; Elizabeth Martin and her husband, Sev; and Samuel Holmes; Lukas, Elin and Benjamin Petersen; Brenden and his wife, Amanda; Kaytlen Driesen, and her husband, Lukas; Hanna, and Brock Norseen; four great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dale in 2012; sisters, Dorothy Haskell and Wilma Klahn; brothers, Keith, Robert and Richard.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Minden, serving the Lord and community with her many gifts and talents. She will be remembered for her excellent cooking, baking, and hosting skills, her crocheting and needlework, and her eye for decorating. She welcomed all who entered her home with her beautiful, ready smile, a cup of coffee, and an empathetic ear.

She adored her children and grandchildren, creating wonderful memories that will be passed on for generations. Fellowship and memory sharing will be at the First Christian Church on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Minden with the Rev. Jim Gordon officiating.

A time of gathering, with lunch will follow the service. Private family interment will take place at a later date at the Minden Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Bethany Home in Minden, First Christian Church in Minden, Rowe Sanctuary of Gibbon or to the Alzheimer’s Association of America.
