Shirley Jane (Hyndman) Lutrick of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away in the presence of her loved ones on Saturday, June 30, 2018. She was born in Gary, Indiana, to John and Edna (Drysdale) Hyndman on October 28, 1937. Shirley graduated from Centennial High School in Pueblo, Colorado, and went on to graduate from Colorado State University in Pueblo.

After college, Shirley met the love of her life. She and Larry Lutrick, Sr. were married January 28, 1961. A longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Chesterton, Shirley was a God-fearing woman, who will be remembered for her love of Jesus Christ.

She was a housewife, but had also worked as a psychiatric aide in Colorado. Shirley was always very social, enjoying playing games with family and friends, attending bible studies, singing, and keeping in touch with her many worldwide family members on social media. Shirley was a long time member of the Eastern Star Calumet Lodge 339.

She enjoyed traveling, and in later years always looked forward to spending winters in Florida. Shirley is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Larry Lutrick, Sr.; children Becky (Bill) Cook and Larry Lutrick, Jr.; grandchildren Christina (Cook) Marshall (Ryne), Rachelle (Cook) Fought (Eric), Amethyst Szubryt, Noah Lutrick, Elijah Lutrick, Kameron Lutrick, and Jackson Lutrick; brother Bob Hyndman; and many nieces, nephews, and siblings-in-law. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna Hyndman; her siblings John, Lucy, Edna, Verna, Marjorie, James, Annie, Ozzie, Ralph, and Harry; and many nieces, nephews, and siblings-in-law.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 7 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton, IN. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations instead be made to Dunes Hospice, 4711 Evans Avenue, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
