Mrs. Shirley McGinnis, 75, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 26, 2018. To honor Mrs. McGinnis‘ wishes, a private memorial service held by her family, will take place at a later date. Mrs. McGinnis is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Jerry McGinnis; her loving son and daughter-in-law, Steve (Stacy) McGinnis; three grandchildren whom she adored, Abigail, Jared, and Olivia McGinnis; a faithful and caring sister, Martha Knight; and cherished niece and nephew, Rondia and Gary Bass.

Mrs. McGinnis loved the Lord with all of her heart. She was currently serving as the treasurer of West Weaver Baptist Church where she and her husband have faithfully attended for almost 50 years. Mrs. McGinnis was a compassionate and caring wife, grandmother, and sister and she will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her so dearly.

Mrs. McGinnis was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Annabelle Boyd Tarpley; her son, Paul McGinnis; and two sisters, Dorothy Cook and Dianne Tarpley Knight. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Alabama Baptist Children‘s Home, In Memory of Shirley McGinnis, 1210 Friendship Road, Oxford, AL 36203.
