Shiz Shizuye Inoshita Shimizu October 10, 1925 ~ October 17, 2018 After raising a wonderful family, our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother decided to listen to her Papa and Mama and join them on October 17, 2018. Shiz Shizuye Inoshita was the second daughter and fifth child of 10 children born to Maruji Inoshita and Sen Tanaka on October 10, 1925 in Santa Maria, California. The Inoshita family were dry farmers in the Fresno area until the outbreak of WWII at which time they were relocated to the Gila River Indian Reservation in Arizona.

It was in the camp that Mom got her high school education. After the War, the Inoshita family settled in Glendale, Arizona. On January 30, 1948, in an arranged marriage, Mom married Mike Masao Shimizu in Ogden, Utah.

Mom worked as a waitress and part owner with Dad at the Bamboo Noodle and Cobble Cottage. After her husband got sick, Mom worked as a seamstress and after Dad’s death she worked and retired from IRS. Mom was a member of the Ogden Buddhist Church.

She enjoyed embroidery, knitting, and yard work. Shiz is survived by her three sons and their wives, Melvin (Roline), Gene (Shana), and Sheldon (Kathy); six grandchildren, Tyler (Gwenn) Shimizu, Stuart (Casi) Shimizu, Nikki (Joe) Wold, Kristen (Chris) Turley, Bret Shimizu, and Megan Shimizu; three great-grandchildren, Bo Shimizu, Jamison Turley, and Hazel Wold; brothers, Mino (Kathy) Inoshita and Tom (Kimi) Inoshita; and sister, Fudge Ogimachi. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, and three sisters.

Mom faced many adversities in her life. But with determination, pride, and dignity left this life with a family of responsible, caring, people, we love her and will miss her. There will be no funeral services and she will be cremated as per her wishes.

Cremation entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
