KAYSVILLE – Jack Edward Distel, 69, passed away October 10, 2018 in Layton, Utah He was born April 28, 1949 in Seattle, Washington to Jacob Andrew Distel and Katherine Minerich Distel, the oldest of three sons. He was raised in a small farming community in Olathe, Colorado. In 1967, he graduated from Olathe High School.

Jack married Susan Townsend, together they had a son, Kirk Bradley. They later divorced. He later met and married Patricia Alma Unguren on December 6, 1980 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ogden, Utah.

Together they had a daughter Jessica Lynn. He served in the U. S. Navy in Vietnam from March 1969 to December 1970. He later graduated from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado in 1974 with a Bachelor’s Degree.

He went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Newport University in 1997. Jack’s professional career spanned over 40 years in the Mental Health field, retiring after a 17 year career at Davis Behavioral Health in June 2014. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Layton, Utah.

He was a fourth degree in The Knights of Columbus and also served as past Grand Knight. Surviving Jack, are his wife Pat of Kaysville; son Kirk (Lori Eidenier) of Ogden, daughter Jessica (Nick) Fenner of Sunset and one grandson, Carter Fenner. He is also survived by his mother Katherine Pasquale, of Palisades, Colorado; Aunt Betty Brill, Montrose, Colorado; niece Chandal (Chuck) Savage and sons, Clinton; nephew Dayne (Katie) Distel and family, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his father Jake, brothers; Terry, Gary Distel and step-father Albert Pasquale. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Davis Hospital ICU. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 South Chapel Street, Layton, Utah.

Friends may visit family Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Holy Rosary ceremony will be held at 7:30 p.m. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to Primary Children’s Hospital.
