Obituary for Sigrid Davis Sigrid “Sis” Mathwig Szukalski Davis died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 13th at the age of 79. Sigrid is survived by her bother Bernard (Sandy)Szukalski , Sister In Law Dorothy Mathwig, daughters Darlene (James)Brass, Donna (Richard Benecke) Poiron, Mary (James Patterson) Davis, six grandchildren Brian Finkler, Kristie Poiron, Eric Hill, Kenneth Hill, Matthew Hill, Jesse Brass, and five great grandchildren Cassidy, Brianna, Jessy Jane, Kaylee, and Jason. She was preceded in death by her parents Marie and Chester Szukalski and brother Reinhardt Mathwig.

Sis was born on June 18th 1939 and emigrated from Misburg Germany to the Bucks County area when she was 11 years old. She graduated from Willow Grove High School in 1958 and went on to put herself through nursing school while raising 3 children on her own. Sis spent over 25 year as a progressive care nurse at Warminster Hospital and spent countless hours tending to those in need.

During this time she and a coworker were selected to help the victims of hurricane Andrew. The matriarch of the family, Sis loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her retirement she enjoyed frequent lunch gatherings with her coworkers, became an avid bingo player, made many friends and enjoyed bus trips to the casinos and theaters.

She loved beaches, crabbing, and cruises. She easily made friends wherever she went. Truly a beautiful person on the inside and out, her absence will be felt by many.

Friends and family are invited to her Celebration of Life at St. Anne’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1545 Easton Road, Warrington, PA 18976 on Monday, November 19th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 pm in the church, please join the family afterward in the bingo hall and share your memories with them. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Anne’s Ukrainian Catholic Church would be appreciated.
