Mrs. Sophia Montgomery Fox, of the Choctaw Bluff community of Jackson found peace June 7, 2018 at Mobile Infirmary in Mobile. Born February 25, 1936 to Frozene and Nathaniel Montgomery in Gainestown, she was 82 years of age. Sophia was a member and enjoyed attending St. James AME Church.

She loved cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Barnett; and three brothers, Tommie Montgomery, Aaron Montgomery and Roy Montgomery. Sophia was united in Holy Matrimony to her devoted husband, Elvin Fox of Jackson.

This union was blesssed with six devoted children, including three daughters, Gloria Fox (Major) Harris and Patricia Montgomery Fox, both of Jackson, and Angel (Joseph) Fox of Mobile; three sons, Michael (Carolyn) Montgomery, Alfred Montgomery and Charlie F. Montgomery all of Jackson; nine grandchildren; four sisters, Rosie Lee Mitchell of Mobile, Mary Alice Fox, Bessie McClain and Carrie D. Hayden, all of Jackson; one aunt Mary Nix of Jackson, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Homegoing service will be Saturday, June 16, with viewing from 12-noon until the 1 p.m. funeral hour, at St. James AME Church, 286 St. James Road, Jackson. Final life celebration has been entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, 203 East Ross St. Jacson, AL.
