Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Lucille (Sr. Lucilla) Winstel died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH on Sunday, May 6, 2018. She was born in 1922 in Steubenville, OH and in 1941 entered the congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace.

She earned her degrees from the College of St. Mary of the Springs, now Ohio Dominican University and Manhattanville College. She taught NM, NY, TX. She taught in the Columbus diocese at St. Francis in Newark, St. Mary Lancaster, Christ the King, Columbus, where she was also principal from 1970-75.

She worked in Supportive Services at St. George Hospital in Cincinnati and was a Nurse Aide at Mohun Hall. She was Diocesan Director in the Harrisburg, PA diocese. She also worked at the Catholic Times Office in the Columbus diocese.

For six years, she was the Administrator of Mohun Hall and was Assistant Development Director of Ohio Dominican College. At the Columbus Motherhouse, she was Coordinator of the Springs Press and typist for the Congregational History. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Florence Gilmore Winstel, and her sister, Helen Winstel.

A Vigil of Remembrance Service will be held at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel, Columbus, Ohio with the wake continuing until 7:00 PM. The funeral liturgy will be held at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
