Mr. Stanley Eugene Lonon, age 72, of Indian Land, SC, passed away at his home on Monday, February 11, 2019. A native of McDowell County, NC, he was born on December 6, 1946 to the late Robert Warren Lonon and Louine Jenkins Lonon. Stanley was self-employed as a General Contractor.

He served his country faithfully in the United States Marine Corps. His talents seemingly knew no bounds as evidenced by his skills at furniture making, woodworking, farming and gardening and further in the fine arts as an artist and glass artist. Compare those talents to his abilities as a builder and mechanic and it was obvious that there was not much he couldn’t do.

He was kind and caring, and dedicated to his family and those he loved or those in need. He was quiet and reserved, until you got him talking! Mr. Lonon leaves behind three children, Carrie Lonon of Asheboro, and Ellen Lonon and Patrick Lonon, both of Greensboro; two step-children, Nathan and Allison Austin, both of Greensboro; a sister, Cora Lyn Lonon of Charlotte; a brother, Robert Warren Lonon, Jr. and wife Peggy of New Jersey; nine grandchildren (plus one on the way); and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion. Military honors will be provided by the U. S. Marine Corps Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
