Lou Ledford, age 81, of the Montford Community, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Autumn Care of Marion. A native of Rutherford County, North Carolina, born July 24, 1937, she was the daughter of the late George and Belva Sams Rector. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Vernon Ledford, who passed away on October 21, 2017; and one daughter, June Williams.

Lou, a loving, mother, grandmother and friend, enjoyed sewing, reading and listening to audio books. She loved to cook for her family, and was known for her wonderful biscuits and her enjoyment of eating chocolate. Lou also loved going to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and camping with her sister, Joy.

She attended Montford Cove Baptist Church. Lou is survived by five children, Randy Ledford of Marion, Tracie Tolbert and her husband, David of Newton, Valerie “Cricket” Dysart and her husband, Paul of Columbia, Missouri, Tim Ledford of Marion and Penny Wells and her husband, James of Marion. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of Lou’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Montford Cove Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn Berryhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Ledford’s memory are asked to consider, Montford Cove Baptist Church, 4920 Cove Road, Union Mills, North Carolina 28167.
