Steven E. Collins, 78 Steven E. Collins, 78 of West Portsmouth passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 at his home. He was born February 2, 1940 in Portsmouth to the late Eugene and Carol Gahm Collins. Steve was a retired Pipefitter and member of Pipefitter’s Local 577.

He was a member of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge # 769, a 32 Degree Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Portsmouth Shrine Club. He was an Eagle Scout, Kentucky Colonel, as well as a Board Member for Desco Federal Credit Union. He was also a member of Dry Run Church of Christ.

He was selfless, giving, a man of faith, loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Steve is survived by his wife of 57 years; Kootela Payne Collins whom he married on December 31, 1960 and their 3 children; Gene (Elaine) Collins, DeAnna (Rick) McKeever, and John (Deana) Collins, a brother; Jim (Genene) Collins, 2 sisters; Carolyn (Garry) Fuller and Anita (Larry) Mills, 8 grandchildren; Jeremy (Charley) Shinkle, Seth (Tabitha) Collins, Jessica (Eric) Davis, Sean (Kelly) Collins, Latesha (Shaun) Stephens, Sarah Collins, Johnathan Collins, and Jacob Collins, and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Mark Seevers officiating and interment in Mershon Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Masonic Services will be held at 8:00 PM on Friday by the Nauvoo Masonic Lodge 769. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
