Steve Ra Game , July 27, 1963 — February 23, 2019

Obituary of Steven Game Steven Ray Game, 55, of Morgantown, WV passed away on February 23, 2019, after an extended illness, and fought with courage, love, family, and faith. He was born July 27, 1963, in Newport News, VA to Thel Game and Sara Moore. Steve graduated from Eastern Wayne High School, Goldsboro, NC in 1981.

He went on to earn both a Bachelor of Science and Masters degree in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He was an avid Tar Heel fan, fisherman and hunter. He cherished memories of his college days and time at the beach with family and friends.

After meeting his wife Carol in Chapel Hill, they relocated to Morgantown, WV where he began his 27-year career at the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Field Studies Branch, as a Supervisory Health Scientist until retirement in 2018. Surviving are his wife Carol (Woodward) Game; a son, Dylan Game and daughter, Taylor Game, of Morgantown, WV; his father, Carlton Moore and wife Nancy, of Statesville, NC; his brothers, Brad Moore and wife Maura, of Natick, MA and Dave Bumgarner and wife Karen of Concord, NC. He is also survived and loved by his mother-in-law, Cynthia Woodward and in-laws Susan and Richard Haley, of Fairmont, WV; Kim Woodward of Murraysville, WV and nieces and nephews, John Woodward, Chelsea Woodward, Rebecca Nellis, David Haley, Bailey Bumgarner, and Sullivan Moore.

He was preceded in death by his mother Sara Moore; father and step-mother, Thel and Kathy Game. In accordance with his wishes, cremation services will be performed. Family and friends will be received at Chestnut Ridge Church, 2223 Cheat Road, Morgantown, WV 26508 on Thursday, February 28, 2019.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. immediately followed by the Memorial Service with Pastor Tim Haring In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve’s memory to the West Virginia University Cancer Institute Research Memorial, WVU Cancer Institute, Office of Philanthropy, PO Box 9300, Morgantown, WV 26506-9300.
