Tamayo Dryden, 85 of Indian River, MI passed away on December 15, 2018 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. She is waving goodbye on a Comanche airplane. Tamayo was born on January 8, 1933 in Fukuoka, Japan.

She grew up in Fukuoka and attended school there as well. In 1958 she married James Dryden IV at the Attorney Generals Office in Fukuoka and the couple shared 62 years together. Tamayo was a member of the Auxiliary of the US Air Force serving as a Second Lieutenant as her husband James was the First Lieutenant.

She flew in military and civilian aircraft. When the couple moved to the US from Japan, they first spent a short stint of time in Missouri. They quickly relocated and began making their home in California, living there for ten years.

After that they moved to Toledo, OH and eventually to Indian River once James was retired. The couple has been in the area for thirty years. Tamayo enjoyed sewing as a trade and a passion.

She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and gardening. Tamayo is survived by her husband James Dryden IV, nieces and nephews Kathy Cole of San Diego, CA, Melvin Recter of St. Louis, MO, and Sue of Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law James III and Edith Dryden.
