On January 3, 2019 the world lost a truly extraordinary man. Terry L. Dawes was a kind and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and uncle. He was born on July 2, 1942 to Dean E. and Edyth E. (Moyer) Dawes in Williamsport.

He spent his youth in Trout Run Pa. Terry loved the simple things in life. He loved his garden, his roses, hummingbirds and fishing.

He retired from Textron Lycoming Engines (formerly AVCO) after 42 years of dedicated service in the Engineering Department. It was there that he met the love of his life Mary Berrigan. She would become his best friend and the true definition of comfort in sickness and in health.

They wed on July 4, 1964 and together they selflessly raised five children and provided a loving and caring home. Terry was an avid fisherman and loved spending time at Rose Valley Lake and Keuka Lake. He took tremendous pride in watching his children and grandchildren play baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse and dance.

Terry was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Gesang Verein Harmonia. Terry was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in June of 2017. He met the diagnosis with courage and grace and he lived with the same passion throughout the remaining gift of time that he was given.

The outpouring of love, prayers, and support he received were a true testament to this amazing man and all who were touched by his love and kindness. Surviving are his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary A. Berrigan Dawes. His children, Joseph A. (Debbie) Dawes of Avis Pa, Stephen D. Dawes of Williamsport, Kathleen Dawes Hawkins of Carlisle, Christine L (Steve) Kriner of Williamsport and “The Boy” John A. (Leah) Dawes of Williamsport.

His adored grandchildren Andrew, Sam, Nate, Stefanie, Juliana, Adelyn and Noah. Great Grandchildren Aibhlinn, Finn and Aine. His Brother, Ronald (Barb) Dawes, sister Barb (John) Rupp and much loved nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother Gary Dawes and a granddaughter Jennifer Dawes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd. , Williamsport with Rev.

William D. Corcoran officiating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, at Sanders Mortuary 821 Diamond St. Williamsport.
