He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Bourg McElroy of Gray, LA; one son, Thaddeus Matthews McElroy, IV of Dulac, LA; two daughters, Christina McElroy (Brandon) Roddy and Michelle McElroy (Jason) Rochel of Gray, LA; mother, Cecile B. McElroy; four brothers, Herman, Terry, Andrea (Peggy), Dale (Betty) McElroy; four sisters, Gwen M. Breaux, Lisa M. Hill, Robin McElroy, Roxanne M. (Billy) McEachem; mother-in-laws, Barbara B. (Reid) Lombes and Peggy B. (Bert) Riggs; 8 grandchildren, Dylan, Holly, and Kevin (Stelly) McElroy, Brayden and Alyssa Roddy, Taylor, Jasa and Jason Rochel, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thaddeus M. McElroy, Jr.; brother, Daniel McElroy; father-in-law, Homer (Omer) Bourg; two brother-in-laws, Albert Bourg and Guy Breaux; sister-in-laws, Rose and Sharon R. Bourg.
