Thelma Elaine Heckert, 72, of Weston went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the United Hospital Center. She was born Weston on March 2, 1946 a daughter of the late Clarence Edgar Alta Leora Bond Boram. On February 14, 2006 she married Kendall Heckert and together have shared nearly 13 years of marriage.

Thelma’s light-hearted and outgoing nature will be remembered by two children: Kimberly Marple and husband, David, of Jane Lew, and Melissa Swiger and husband, Robert, of Weston; five grandchildren: David Marple and companion, Angela Hiley, Leeann Marple and companion, Christopher McElwain, Sheena Jenkins, Caitlyn Jenkins and companion, Anthony Stalnaker, and Destiny Jenkins; and one brother, Donald Boram of Weston. In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by two sons: Dennis Eugene Hitt, and Russell Guy Hitt Jr.; first husband, Russell Guy Hitt; two siblings: Howard Eugene and Vera Marie Boram. Thelma loved to cook and put her talent to good use when she worked in the kitchen at the Weston State Hospital.

She continued to share her culinary skills when she worked at Pizza Hut in Weston. Thelma also enjoyed reading and spending time with her animals. Her four dogs: Bandy, Dandy, Gus, and Buddy; and her three cats: Blondie, Autumn, and Marmalade will all miss the love and affection she showed them.

Thelma’s faith was strong and she was a member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made directly to the Pat Boyle Funeral Home (PO Box 569, Jane Lew, WV 26378) to aide with final expenses. Cremation has been honored and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
