Thomas A. Love, age 92, of Annandale, died Sunday February 17, 2019 as a result of Parkinson’s Disease at the Wellstead of Rogers with his wife holding his hand. Memorial Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Pastor Bill Bohline officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life honoring Tom will be held at Classic Hall following the service. Memorials are preferred to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Salvation Army.

Thomas Alva Love was born on December 21, 1926 in Hackett, Arkansas to James and Effie (Brock) Love, one of eleven children. He attended school there and furthered his skills through NYA, under President Roosevelt’s training program after the Great Depression, as a machinist. Although exempt from the draft during World War II, Tom felt it was his duty to enlist.

He honorably served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946 aboard the carrier, USS Kingsbury. On April 23, 1949 he was united in marriage to June Dearing in San Francisco and she preceded him in death in 1987. In the early 1950’s he relocated to Minnesota and through his employment he met Victor Brink, longtime business partner and friend.

They decided to fulfill their dreams of owning a successful company. They started small, working after hours, and grew to establish their business, Basic Industries. In 1981, they sold the company.

In 1998 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Latour in Las Vegas and their marriage was blessed at St. Ignatius by Father Kozlak. Tom loved his classic cars, biking in the San Francisco hills, and fishing on Lake Sylvia. He served on the St. Anthony Bank Board, now known as Bremer Bank.

Tom was a member of Cadillac XLR Club, as well as the Cadillac LaSalle Club, and a former member of the Annandale Lions Club. Tom is survived by his wife, Phyllis Latour of Annandale; children, Kathleen (Paul Heberling) Love of Roseburg, OR, Mary (David) Spike of Annandale, and Cynthia Anderson of Annandale; stepchildren, Randy (Cathy) Latour of Annandale and Denise (Charles) Thelen of Evergreen, CO; 8 grandchildren; 6 stepgrandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his first wife June, his parents, his 10 siblings, stepson Gregory Latour, and son-in-law Lee Anderson.

Tom’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Toni O’Koren and Shannon Paumen will provide music for the service. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
