Thomas H. “Tom” Clay, age 94, of East Dublin, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born in Laurens County to the late George and Mae Riley Clay. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and stationed in France.

Mr. Clay was a retired truck driver working for over 70 years in the industry. He also worked with Lovett & Tharpe, logging 1. 5 million miles during his time service with the company.

Tom loved his western shows and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Buck Clay and Bobby Clay; sisters, Margaret Blackwell, Elsie Sullivan, and Loretta Bush; son-in-law, Jerry Steinmann and daughter-in-law, Jeanie Clay. Left to cherish Tom’s memory, is his devoted wife of 64 years, Christine Clay, of East Dublin; children, Tommy Clay, of Portsmouth, VA, and Butch Clay (Lori), Christy Steinmann, and Tony Clay (Gloria), all of East Dublin; 8 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens.

Pastor Judd Drake will officiate. Pallbearers will be Michael Clay, Hunter Clay, Travis Clay, John Clay, Joe McCoy, Jacob Steinmann, Lance Newman, and Leevon Platt.
