Obituary for Thomas J. Herkis Thomas J. Herkis, 91, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Pioneer Court surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 6, 1927 in Beloit, WI, the son of George and Margaret (Gray) Herkis. Thomas was a 1947 graduate of Beloit High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. Thomas married Audrey A. Clippert on May 17, 1952 in St. Thomas Catholic Church. She predeceased him on January 3, 2011.

Tom was employed by Wisconsin Power & Light for 39 years, retiring in 1990. He was a proud father of five girls and family was everything to him. Tom enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events, golfing, watching John Wayne and Cowboy movies, and listening to music.

He was a Green Bay Packer and Chicago Cubs fan. Survivors include his five daughters, Jodie (Peter) Ferwerda of Longwood, FL, Lori (Tim) Quinn of Beloit, WI, Tori (Tim) Haas of Linden, WI, Tami (Ron) Northrop Jr. of Beloit, WI, and Trudi (Tom) Francik of Rockton, IL; 12 grandchildren, Ryan (Veronica) Ferwerda, Brandon (Rose) Ferwerda, Billy (Michelle) Quinn, Catherine (fiance, James Ward) Quinn, Michael and Christopher Haas, Staci Northrop, Thomas (Danielle) Northrop, Brooke Northrop, Chelsea (Pat) Ballou, Matthew (Jennifer) Francik and Elizabeth Francik; and 12 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer Court, Beloit Regional Hospice and Denise James with Home Health Care for the care that was given to Tom.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers John and George Herkis and sister Catherine. A memorial service for Tom will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral services will be Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Chaplain Mark Maxted officiating. Visitation of remembrance will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
