Thomas Scott Sr Fleck , February 19, 1923 — May 23, 2018

Thomas Scott Fleck, Sr., 95, died on May 23, 2018 at Brookdale of Findlay. Tom was born on February 19, 1923 in Tiffin to Phil and Marcia (Huth) Fleck. He was a loving father to four children, who survive him: Joyce (Robert) Long of South Bend, IN, Tom Jr. (Erin) Fleck of Marietta, GA, Pete (Sheryl Birch) Fleck of Toledo, and Tim (Joann) Fleck of Sandusky.

Tom also has 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Patty; and his love interest of the past 15 years, Mary Lewis. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Scheiber; brother, Tim, and wife Merle.

Tom graduated from Calvert High School and then attended Heidelberg before enlisting in the Army during WWII. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in Berlin during the reconstruction period, where he met his future wife, Merle Johnson, who was a secretary for the U.S. government. After serving in Berlin, Tom graduated from The Ohio State University in Electrical Engineering.

Eventually, Tom returned to Tiffin to work with his father at Fleck Electric. He later became the 2nd generation owner of the business and “formally” retired in 2005 at age 82. He was an avid golfer & a former Club Champion at Mohawk Golf & Country Club, great dancer, and card playing wiz.

He loved music and was in the men’s choir at St. Joseph Church for over fifty years. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Mercy Hospital, Tiffin Washboard Band, and was a member of the Elks. He also served on several boards, including the Tiffin Savings Bank and Allen Eiry Senior Center.

A Funeral Service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the Service at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice of Fremont or the charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent and the guestbook signed at www.
