Tom Cartier June 29, 1933 – March 16, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Tom Cartier age 85 of Howard City went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 16 at Spectrum Health. He was born June 29, 1933 in Royal Oak, MI the son of Lawrence and Laura ( Deziel ) Cartier. Tom graduated from St James High School in Ferndale.

During his working years he worked as a mechanic for Elston Richards. Tom served his country in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

He loved his family and had a huge heart. Tom loved to travel, loved sports especially U of M, creating lawn ornaments, making walking sticks from palm branches, fishing and boating at their cottage in Houghton Lake and the last thirteen years he enjoyed their place in Florida. Surviving are his children Tom ( Betty ) Cartier of Ravenna Anne Somers of Kalamazoo and her fiancée Randy Piper of Jenison 6 Grandchildren Tom ( Hillary Flynn ), Cameron, Kaleb, Seth, Tyler and Kaitlyn.

Two great grandchildren Ayden and Jackson One brother Jim ( Lillian ) of Gladwin One sister Rita Cartier of Troy And several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Julia in 2014, son in law Brian in 2016 and Five brothers and one sister. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Christ The King Catholic Church with Father James VanderLaan as the celebrant with burial in the Reynolds Cemetery.

The family will greet friends at the Heckman Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-8 pm and then prior to services at the Church on Saturday. Military Honors will be conducted by the Morley American Legion.
