Demeritt, 97, formerly of Raymond Road, died January 5, 2019 at Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont. Born Oct. 22, 1921, in Northwood, she was the daughter of Edwin & Fannie (Harrop) Pender.

She was a graduate of Coe Brown Academy, Class of 1939, and resided in Nottingham for 70 years. Velma was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who loved every minute of it. She was a member of the Nottingham Community Church where she served as a deaconess for many years.

Also was a member of the Patuccoway Grange for over 50 years, Historical Society, Women’s Club, and the Couples Club which became the Saturday Nighters. Predeceased by her husband Albert F. Demeritt died June 29, 1993, brother, John Pender, and her sister, Flora Holmes. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Jean Barnes of Raymond, and Judy Ann Pare’ and her husband Raymond of Manchester; many grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.

There are no calling hours. A Graveside Service will be held in the spring in Lee Hill Cemetery, Lee, NH. Should friends desire memorials may be made to the Nottingham Community Church, or the Nottingham Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 68, Nottingham, N.H. 03290.
