~ The Obituary ~ Vera Lynette Johnsonwas born July 30, 1962 in Washington, DC to Louise Johnson and Alphonzo Reaves. She was adopted and reared by Fletcher and Ella Nance Vereen (sister of Vera’s maternal grandmother and namesake Vera Johnson). Vera attended and graduated from the Lake View Schools.

She migrated to Washington, DC as a young woman and cultivated a fruitful life. God blessed her with bountiful positions at St. Elizabeth Hospital, The U.S. Department of Defense, and the Office of Personnel Management. Verawas a superior achiever wherein she received numerous awards.

She chose Son-Rise Fellowship Ministry in Maryland, Reverend Ronald Valis, Pastor, as her place of worship. Veraalways spoke highly of her church family and their unwavering support for she and TaVera (daughter). On January 6, 2019, God called Verato rest.

Daughter Gwendolyn J. Johnson preceded her in death. She leaves a legacy of memories to: son: Lance Johnson of Forestville, MD; daughter: TaVera Johnson, Glen Burnie, MD: sisters: Verina Johnson Paige, Woldorf, MD; Carol Johnson, Washington, DC; Ernestine Baker, Dillon, SC; Frances Baker, Lake View, SC, Ella Louise Vereen, Greensboro, NC, Brenda Nixon, Florence, SC; aunt Cleopatra Nance, Lake View, SC; three grandchildren; TaVera’s Godparents: Ronnie Washington, Glenarden, MD, Vickie Thompson, Hanover, MD; Son-Rise Ministry, MD; Office of Personnel Management Team, MD and many caring cousins, neighbors; (Ms. Lori).
