Vera Slezak Eisaman, 92, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in St. Anne Home. She was born February 17, 1926 in New Alexandria a daughter of the late Fred J. and Gertrude Schmitt Slezak. Vera attended Shieldsburg School, Greensburg High School (Class of 1943) and graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. degree in Home Economics.

She taught at North Belle Vernon Sr. High School and New Stanton Jr. High. Vera also taught evening adult sewing classes at Hempfield, South Greensburg, Southwest, and Greensburg Salem Schools. She was a member of Unit 9 of the Westmoreland Hospital Auxiliary for more than 50 years and volunteered at the Hospitality Shop.

Vera also volunteered with the Red Cross Bloodmobile for more than 25 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John “Jack” Edgar Eisaman; son-in-law, John M. Yakubisin; brother, Frederick A. Slezak; and sister Rose Marie Elliott.

She is survived by her children, John Eisaman Jr. and his wife, Connie (Lipscomb), of Bluffton, SC. , Susan (Eisaman) Yakubisin of Greensburg, Karl Eisaman and his wife, Carmen (Kowinski), of Greensburg, and Andrew Eisaman and his wife, Rene (Stow), of St. Charles, Mo. ; granddaughter, Anne Yakubisin, of Wynnewood, PA; numerous nieces and nephews; and friends as close as family, Michael Guidas, his wife Diane and sons, Jake and Nick.

Family and friends will be received from 9 to 11am Saturday in the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC. , 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. Parting prayers will be held at 11am on Saturday in the funeral home followed by Vera’s funeral mass at 11:30am in Our Lady of Grace Church.

Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, to please contribute to a charity of ones choice in Vera’s name. The Eisaman Family would like to thank St. Anne Home Staff for their wonderful care of Vera for the last seven months.
