Obituary for VerDelma M. Broderick VerDelma, “Ver” M. Broderick, 95, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville, WI. Ver was born on January 10, 1923 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Lyle and Amanda (Holmen) Udell. She graduated from Beloit High School in 1941 and attended Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design, San Francisco, CA.

Ver married Linwood Allen on February 11, 1944 in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI. He was killed during WWII, shortly after their marriage. Ver later married Harold “Joe” Broderick, WWII Veteran and POW, on February 15, 1946 at John Vianney Catholic Church, Janesville, WI.

He predeceased her on January 9, 2006. Ver was a homemaker, wife, mother, and assisted Joe in the office of Broderick-Locke Insurance. She enjoyed reading (especially fond of murder mysteries), card playing, crossword puzzles (“tougher the better”), music (classical, Big Band, Blues and Dixieland) and was an accomplished, but shy pianist.

Ver and Joe enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and a very large family. Their home was always a haven of warmth. Welcome, and joy to everyone.

Joe and Ver had a beautiful romance and enjoyed many wonderful years together traveling all over the United States…trips to Sanibel Island, FL, and Minocqua, WI were favorite destinations. They shared their love of these locations with family and friends who were always welcome and encouraged to visit (“the more the merrier”). Verdelma was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Beloit, WI.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Grace Broderick; children, Dennis (fiancé Paulette Lucas) Broderick, Holly Moller of Janesville, WI, Jane (Luin) Hatleberg, Kerry Broderick, Rosie (companion Martin Hippert) Chekouras, and Mary (Mark) Esselman; grandchildren, Nichole (fiancé, Arturo Casadevall) Broderick, Justin (Kristen) Broderick, Tiphanie Broderick, Michael Moller, Sara (Brian) Donarski, Aaron (Kari) Hatleberg, Noelle (Dan) Yachcik, April (Michael) Sweeney, Ryan (Jennifer) Broderick, Amanda Broderick, Kirsten (Jason) Testin, Joseph (Ali Chekouras, Elizabeth (Timothy) Harrison, Andrew (Lisa) Esselman, Margaret (Evin) Wandrey, Matthew (Jacqueline) Esselman; and 26 great-grandchildren. Ver remained very close to and enjoyed frequent visits from her ex-daughter’s-in-law, Judith Pettingill Broderick (companion, Bill Wilson. .

aka “Santa”) and Cindy (Mark) Hahn. Ver has numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved with all her heart…but are to numerous to list (like stars in the sky”). She was predeceased by her parents, Lyle and Amanda Udell; two husbands, Linwood Allen and Harold (Joe) Broderick; sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Erling Knutson; companion, Lenny Knap; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Adelaide (Thiele) Broderick; sons-in-law, John Broderick and John Chekouras; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Broderick, Francis Broderick, Margaret (Paul) Hopenjay, William Thorn, Rosemary Nichols, Walt (Ann) Nichols, Patricia Seefeldt, Wilbert Seefeldt, Therese Keegan, and Phillip Keegan ; niece’s , Barbara Weatherwax, and Jan Seefeldt; and nephew, Thomas Lohry.

The family of Ver would like to thank the staff of St. Elizabeth Manor for their friendship and loving care, as well as the staff of Heartland Hospice and care givers throughout her life who kept her hale and hearty to the ripe old age of 95. Mom will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor, unconditional love of family…and her gin martini’s… “straight up with a twist and an olive, please! ” Mom and Dad traveled through life as inseparable pair, who have found each other again, in the arms of God…and will continue their journey together.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Verdelma will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2222 Shopiere Rd. , Beloit, WI, with Fr. Michael Resop and Fr.

Robert Thorne concelebrating. Entombment will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visitation of remembrance will be from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45a.m. in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral services will be Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to Heartland Hospice Care Madison, WI or the Red Cross.
