Obituary for Vern Goodman Vern Goodman, age 79, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday morning, July 10, 2018 at the family residence. Vern was the son of the late Grace Howel Goodman and Evey Goodman. His son, Marc Goodman and 8 of his brothers also preceded him in death.

Vern was a U. S. Navy Veteran and was a graduate of Lee University. He received his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. He was a retired Teacher from the Cleveland City Schools System with 23 years of service.

Vern was known for his work ethic and in retirement he drove a Truck for Sathers Trucking. He was a very accomplished Skater and he enjoyed playing golf. He loved the outdoors especially working in his yard.

He was always available to trim the neighbors trees when they ask him to. Vern was an active member of the North Cleveland Church of God where he was apart of the Unity Sunday School Class and the Peacemakers. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Pat Goodman of Cleveland, his daughter, Marcia Lynn Goodman also of Cleveland, his granddaughter, Victoria Lynn Goodman-Hernandez and her husband Roberto of Cleveland, his sister, Ethel Celaya of Kingwood, Texas, his brother, James “Jim” Roy Goodman and his wife Linda of Pembroke Pines, Florida and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 2:00 P. M. at the North Cleveland Church of God, Dixon Chapel with Dr. Jerome Boone and Reverend Grey Robinson officiating. Graveside Services and Interment will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11:00 A. M. from the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors. Jack Morris, Scott Johnson, Roberto Hernandez, Joe Hanshaw, Jim Goodman, David Shope, Mack Strine and Tom Milligan serving as casket bearers.

Honorary casket bearers with be the Unity Sunday School Class. The family request in lieu of flowers, Memorials be made to the North Cleveland Church of God Rise and Build Program, 335 11th Street N. E. Cleveland, Tennessee 37311. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 P. M. Saturday at the North Cleveland Church of God, Dixon Chapel.
