Vernie Chamlee, age 94, formerly of Huffines, Texas, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 17, 2018, in Houston, Texas. Vernie was born January 21, 1924, in Cass County, Texas to John and Viola Cook. She was a Baptist by faith and Grand Matron of the order of the Eastern Star.

She was a Houston Astros fan, loved her Dallas Cowboys, was an avid square dancer, and liked bowling. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Calvin White and Werner Chamlee; three brothers, Buddy,… Read More » J.D., Dude; and two sisters, Hazel and Bernice “Sugar”. She is survived by two sons, Gordon White and wife Margylynn of Houston, Texas, James White and wife Dinah of Houston, Texas; sister Jeanetta “Tiny” Swink and husband Travis of Rodessa, Louisiana; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a number of nephews, nieces, and other relatives.

Services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 22, 2018, in the Hanner Funeral Chapel, with Tim Brown officiating. Interment will be in Huffines Cemetery.
