Vernon Clarence Farney, 77, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at St. Vincent Medical Center. Vernon was born in Evansville, Indiana on April 30, 1941 to the late Naurice G. and Helen M. (Wegener) Farney. For 40 years he worked as an electrician with Wortman Electric and was known for his strong work ethic.

Vernon enjoyed gardening, splitting wood and owning Stillwater Kennels in his free time. He was a life-time member of Salem Church of Darmstadt. Vernon… Read More » is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lola Jane (Ingram) Farney; sons, Brian Farney of Columbus, OH, Eric Farney of Gainesville, VA and Dirk Farney (Jamie) of Evansville, IN; sisters, Geraldine Martin (Darwin) of Evansville, IN and Roselyn Hansen (Kenneth Sr.) of Evansville, IN; brother, Charles Farney (Ann) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Emma, Tate, Dean and Owen; father-in-law, Ron Ingram; sisters-in-law, Mary Farney and Jean Jones; and brother-in-law, Mike Ingram (Phyllis).

Vernon was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Farney; and parents. A celebration of Vernon’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Salem Church of Darmstadt, 14134 Darmstadt Rd. , Evansville, IN 47725 with Pastor David Peterson officiating.

Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home and again from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Church of Darmstadt or to the Foundation for Fighting Blindness, Usher Syndrome, PO Box 45740, Baltimore, MD 21297.
