OBITUARY William “Bill” Joseph Smith June 11, 1932 – October 20, 2018 William Joseph “Bill” Smith, 86, of Evansville, passed away, Saturday, October 20, 2018, with his loving companion, Sue at his side, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. He was born June 11, 1932, in Friana, Illinois, to the late Carl and Luella (Dye) Smith. Bill was an Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War.

He started his career at Shane’s manufacturing where he worked from 1950-1960 when he met and later married the love of his life, Velma. He went on to retire from Alcoa after 35 years of service. He loved going to the Casino, where he enjoyed time with friends, being on a bowling league with his late wife, fishing and boating.

Above all, he was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Velma (Farmer) Smith; brother, Carl Smith; and sister, Mary Winkler. Bill is survived by his children, Cindy Schoonover, Mike Smith (Nancy) and Danny Smith; loving companion, Sue Gayle Parrish; grandchildren, Brent Smith (Liz), Sarah Oedy (Pastor Dan), Ashley Schoonover (Rob Wilder) and Kayla Smith; great grandchildren, Daniel Graham, Hannah Reece, Camille and Lydia Oedy and Kailey and Ethan Smith.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home Memorial contributions may be made to Michael J.
