William W Pierce Sr, September 19, 1940 — October 17, 2018

Obituary for William W. Pierce Sr William Warren “Bill” Pierce, Sr., 78, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Golden Living Center Brentwood. Bill was born September 19, 1940 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to the late James Henry and Frances Jane (Wallace) Pierce. He was a graduate of North High School and worked as a Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputy for 27 years before retiring in 1996.

Bill was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was also a Mason and belonged to the York Rite, Hadi Shrine and No Ruz Grotto. Bill was a past master of both the Lessing and Daylight Lodges.

Surviving Bill are his wife of 49 years, Luanne (Yeager) Pierce; children, William (Julie) Pierce, Jr., Carolyn (Barry) Duff and Timothy (Lynn) Pierce; fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Pat Smith and by a brother, Bob (Judy) Pierce. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Anthony “Tony” Maden and by three sisters, Mary, Ruth and Wincie.

There will be a memorial service held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Solid Rock Church, 4300 East Morgan Ave, Evansville, IN 47715, where the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard will conduct rites. Burial will follow in Locust Hill Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday at Solid Rock Church.
