Vernon L. Geddings, 86, of Havelock, passed away, May 11, 2018 at Carolina East Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at the Annunciation Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 with Father Bill Upah officiating. Burial will follow at the Forrest Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Vernon served his country in the US Marine Corps in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Vernon is survived by his wife, Georgean A. Geddings; daughters, Deborah Jolly and husband, Keith, of Newport, Kathy Geddings and fiancé, Gary Kautz, of Bloomingdale, NJ, Ruth Ann Mechling and husband, Rusty, of Midland, MI; sons, Vernon G. Geddings and wife, Karen, of Havelock, Charles R. Geddings of Havelock, Christopher L. Geddings of Havelock; sister, Ruth Ann Barrineau of Sumter, SC; grandchildren, Faith Jolly, Roseanne Kautz, Melissa A. Thiesse, Danielle Geddings, Amanda Mechling, Wyatt Mechling, Angela Mechling, Jessie Geddings, Jake Geddings; great grandchildren, Jarmon A. Fonville, Anna Thiesse, Marceline Florence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucius and Ruth Geddings; seven brothers; and daughter, Georgean R. Ogorzaly.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home and Cremations in Havelock. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN, 38105 or the American Kidney Foundation at 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
