Vivian’s Obituary Vivian Altman, age 95, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Laurel’s Edge in Mankato on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 27, 2019, at the First Lutheran Church of Lafayette. Pastors Heidi Hagstrom and Sandy Anenson will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9-11 am on Monday at the church in Lafayette. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes of New Ulm are handling the arrangements. To leave an online condolence for her family, or to sign the guestbook, go to: mvfh.org Vivian Katherine Youngblom was born on the family farm on February 13, 1924, to Werner and Esther (Johnson) Youngblom.

She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran in Lafayette where she was a member her entire life. Vivian attended school in Lafayette, playing trombone in the band and was on the basketball team. She graduated from New Ulm High School as the Lafayette school only went through grade 11.

In 1944 Vivian married Harold Lueck at her parent’s home. The marriage was blessed with three daughters, Luann, Linda and Christine. For several years they worked side-by-side as they owned Harold’s Grocery.

Harold passed away in 1976. Vivian married Harvey Erickson who passed away in 1991. A few years later she married Armin Altmann who passed away in 2015.

Vivian was a patient and loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and playing cards. She served many years as a 4-H leader, was active in her church and known for the wonderful donuts she made.

Her family loved her dill pickles and homemade buns. She always had M&Ms and enjoyed chocolate until her last days. She was preceded in death by her husbands; her daughter, Linda Dybsetter; son-in-law, Phil Harris; a grandchild; her brother, Maynard Youngblom; and her parents and several sisters-in-law, and brothers –in –law.

She is survived by her daughters, Luann (Bruce) Flygare, Chris Harris; grandchildren, Daniel (Diane) Flygare, Cammie (Patrick) Dorn, Traci (Steven) Bauer, Jarrod (Annie) Dybsetter, Juston (Amy) Dybsetter, Jodi Dybsetter, Lueck Harris, Katherine (Jennifer) Sump; son-in-law, Douglas Dybsetter; 16 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Elaine Hermanson; brother, Stanley Youngblom; sister-in-law, Edith Fyksen; and many nieces and nephews.
