Wanda Faye Tanner of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma was born to Ruel E. and Dorothy (Beam) Alfred on November 17, 1930 at her family’s home east of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and passed from this life at her home in Pauls Valley on January 17, 2019 at the age of 88 years. Wanda grew up in the Walker community where she attended school until the 8th grade. She graduated from Pauls Valley High School.

Terry Tanner and Wanda were married in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma in 1961. Wanda began her working career at G. F. Wacker offices. She later was secretary of the Pauls Valley Chamber of Commerce.

She worked for a time at Physicians and Surgeons as an insurance clerk. Wanda was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School class for 4 and 5 year olds for nearly 50 years. Wanda lived out the teachings of Jesus in actions more than words.

She humbly served and taught His word. She worked tirelessly to prepare for teaching the children and made sure every child had everything they needed at Christmas and any time she saw a need. Wanda loved her baby Brutus, her chihuahua.

She taught others the importance of taking care of animals and being sensitive to their situations. She was a shopaholic, loved to eat out, and was an authority on vitamins. She loved traveling and spent many hours on bus trips with her favorite travel buddy, Berna Walton as they saw the country.

Mrs. Tanner is survived by: Daughter: Suzanne Pickett of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma Brother: Don Alfred of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma 2 grandchildren: Amy and Curt Gerrard and Jason and Amity Carter 8 great-grandchildren: Sierra, Machela, Kirstan, Makel, Emily, Lindsey, Jacob, and Aaron 3 nephews: Gary and Cathy Alfred, Steven and Melinda Alfred, and Joey and Michelle Alfred Niece: Kristen and Joe Holt Great-nieces: Carissa and Jeff Willis, Kaci and Luke Gifford, Abby Alfred, Emmy Alfred Great-nephew: Cade and Claire Holt, Brett Alfred Great-great-niece: Henley Mae Willis Great-great-nephew: Lincoln Thomas Willis Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by: Her husband: Terry Tanner in 1990 Parents: Ruel and Dorothy Alfred sister-in-law: Kay Alfred in 2016 Great-great-niece: Hudsyn Kay Willis in 2015 A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Mt. Olivet Pavilion with Rev. Dwayne Johnson officiating.
