Wayne D. Klug of Juneau passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018 peacefully at his home after battling ALS at the age of 75 years. He was born October 30, 1942, the son of Alvin and Emma (nee Pegelow) Klug. Wayne was a 1961 graduate of Juneau High School and graduated from Madison Business college in 1963 with a Business Administration degree.

He married the love of his life, Joan Gietzel, on May 1, 1965 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Horicon. Wayne worked for Mautz Paint & Varnish Co. for 2 ½ years and Citizens Bank of Juneau, Valley Bank of Juneau and M&I Bank of Juneau for over 32 years. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Ev.

Lutheran Church in Juneau and served on various committees. He was a charter member and active in the Juneau Snow Marauders Snowmobile Club. Wayne was a member and past officer of the Juneau Sporting Club, and a lifetime member of Juneau Rod & Gun Club.

He was active in the Juneau community, helping to found the Juneau Community Center, and was a longtime member of the Juneau Economic Development Committee. Wayne also enjoyed memberships with the Northwoods Riders Snowmobile Club and Nokomis ATV Club & LNCC. In recognition of his civic involvement, Wayne was awarded the 2008 Morry Mountin Award.

Wayne taught the AWSC Snowmobile Safety course for over 25 years. Wayne enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, ATV’ing, snowmobiling, visiting with so many friends, and especially enjoyed spending time at his lake home in Tomahawk. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Klug, his children Jennifer (Dennis) Schmidt and Bethany (Mark) Justmann, his grandchildren, Erica & Emily Tisdale, Jacob, Morgan and Travis Justmann.

Also survived by other relatives and friends. Visitation is Tuesday, June 19th, from noon – 2:45 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau.

Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at church. Rev. Paul Schupmann and Rev.

Mark Gass will officiate. Interment Juneau City Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Rainbow Hospice for all their care and support, and to Wayne and Joan’s numerous friends who spent time visiting with Wayne over the last few months.
