Wayne Paul “Herc” Martin, age 72 of Concord, AL passed away on February 26, 2019. Born September 10, 1946 in Birmingham, AL to Hoyt and Evelyn Martin, he was the second oldest of four children. Wayne graduated Ensley High School and started a career with ACIPCO Machine Shop where he worked or 38 years until he retired.

A loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, he enjoyed everything Auburn and spending time with his family. He was the sweetest Dad/Pops in the world and will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gene Martin and the love of his life, Paulette (Hoops) Martin.

He leaves to cherish his memories 3 children, Dawn (Greg) Messer, Christy Martin Files and Douglas “Doug” (Melissa) Martin; 11 grandchildren, Alex Files, Hunter Files, Mary Martin (Mackenzie) Brown, Zac Files, Malcolm Messer, Hollie Files, Cory Martin, Liz Files, Max Messer, Maggie Messer and Taylor Martin; 2 siblings, Janet (Ray) Finerty and Steve Martin; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 11 am to 1 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home, 5317 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield, AL 35228. Funeral services will follow immediately with burial in Valhalla Cemetery.
