Wayne was born December 20, 1929 to Wallace Otis and Alta Wallwork Walker. He attended Weber County Schools and Ogden City Schools graduating from Ogden High in 1948.

He was on the stage crew and enjoyed getting out of class to run the projectors for other teachers. He began working at Woolworth’s after high school where he met Elaine Todd, his “million dollar baby at the five and ten cent store”. They were married July 28, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple and enjoyed 67 ½ years together before her passing on January 25, 2018.

In 1953 they built a home in Hooper next to Elaine’s parents where they raised their four daughters and resided until moving to Roy in 2006. Active in the LDS church he served in many callings mostly with the youth in the scouting program for which he received the Silver Beaver award from the Boy Scouts of America. Wayne was employed at Hill Air Force Base for 37 years retiring in 1987.

He served as a Major in the Civil Air Patrol and enjoyed many activities with the organization. He and Elaine served an LDS mission to the Canada Montreal Mission from 1993-1994. After which they were ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple for 7 ½ years.

They both enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises with their family and spending time at Bear Lake. He was an outgoing and friendly man who knew no strangers only friends he hadn’t met yet. Wayne is survived by his three daughters and 4 sons-in-law: Linda and Chuck Smith, Sandra and Bart Spencer, Paula and Dennis Miller and Gary Hendricks.

He has 20 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Elaine; his parents; a sister, Bonnie Welker; a son-in-law, Dirk Maw; and a great-grandchild, Ari Hendricks. Sadly, his youngest daughter, Tami Hendricks died earlier on the morning of his own death.
