Wendell L. Nance, 80 years old, passed away at 1:50 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018, at the Sanctuary at St. Paul’s, South Bend. Mr. Nance was born on August 28, 1937 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late Lawrence and Marguerite (Carden) Nance. He was a retired credit finance manager for Toro Corporation.

Mr. Nance was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Mishawaka and of Gideon’s International. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy. Mr. Nance is survived by his five children, Rick (Areta) Nance of Woodbridge, VA, Cheryl (Evan) Ferguson of Mishawaka, Scott Nance of Mishawaka, Laura Nance of South Bend, and Jeffery Nance of Minneapolis, MN; five grandchildren, Ryan Ferguson, Shawn Ferguson, Amy Ferguson, Holly Wolfe, and Lucas Wolfe; and three great grandchildren, Emma Kham, Jase Ferguson, and Charlie Ferguson.

He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Linda Remer of Texas and Mark Wayne Hassell of Arkansas. Mr. Nance was preceded in death by his two grandchildren, Joshua and Brandy Nance. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 724 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, IN where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to service time.

Military graveside services and burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Wendell L. Nance may be donated to the First Baptist Church, 724 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or to Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 1643, Mishawaka, IN 46546.
