Wilhelmina Van Hooff, loving mother, wife, and grandmother passed away holding her daughter’s hand at the age of 95 on Monday June 11, 2018 at Bayside Manor in Keansburg, New Jersey, where she had resided for several years. She was born Wilhelmina Engels on September 8, 1922 in North Brabant, Netherlands, where she was raised and later immigrated to the United States with her beloved husband Arthur in 1957, where they raised their loving daughter Ida in Keyport and Belford, New Jersey. She adored her son-in-law Scott and was known by her grandchildren Adriana and Abby as “Oma”.

Wilma was a devoted grandmother and major part of their lives. Wilma loved her Dutch heritage and proudly shared it with her family for all of her life. Wilma was a kind, loving soul.

She brought life and happiness to everything around her from plants, to animals, to her loving friends and family. Wilma worked hard most of her life to bring opportunity and happiness to her family, and will be remembered for making the world a better place to those around her. Her strong spirit was truly inspiring.

Wilma was predeceased by her beloved and devoted husband of 65 years, Arthur Van Hooff and her 8 dear siblings. She is survived by her loving daughter, Ida Burton and her husband, Scott, of Little Silver, New Jersey, and her cherished granddaughters, Adriana and Abigail Burton, along with her adoring family in Holland. In addition, Wilma’s family would like to give a special “thank you” to all of the staff at Bayside Manor for all the loving care they have provided throughout her final years.

In respect of Wilma’s wishes, she will be privately cremated. Arrangements were entrusted to the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Chapel, 26 Leonardville Road, Middletown, New Jersey 07748.

Following the Mass, Wilma’s remains will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Arthur, at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 100 Chapel Hill Road, Middletown, New Jersey 07701. For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www. shorepointfh.com.
