Obituary for William “Bill” D. Gwilliam William D. “Bill” Gwilliam, age 82 of Farwell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. On January 5, 1936, Bill was born the son of Alfred and Elsie (Warburton) Gwilliam in Warrington, England. He was united in marriage to Vicki Long on December 20, 1969 in Buffalo, Kentucky.

Bill entered the British Merchant Marines at a young age and during his military service his time was spent as a boiler serviceman/inspector on the various naval vessels on which he was stationed. His time served on those naval ships largely shaped his professional career as well. Once his military service concluded, Bill moved to the United States in January of 1963 and put his technical education to work as a boiler inspector across many states for nearly thirty-five years.

Bill loved to read, fish, and he loved to study and build models of the various ships that he had served on. Bill is survived by his sons James (Sarah) Gwilliam of Bowling Green, KY. , and William A. (Nichole) Gwilliam of Buffalo, KY.

, and his three grandchildren Alaina, David, and Adley. He is also survived by his Aunt Barbara Warburton and Uncle Ken Warburton, both of whom reside in England. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Elsie Gwilliam, his sister Olwyn, and his uncle Harry Warburton.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial service may take place at a later date. Online condolences and memories may be shared on the Gwilliam family page at www.
