Obituary for William “Bill” Gleason Hitchcock Sr Mr. William “Bill” Gleason Hitchcock, Sr., age 80, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at his home. He was the son of the late William Alfred and Georgia Gleason Hitchcock Crosland and was born in Rome, GA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Hitchcock and his maternal grandparents, Claud and Gradia Gleason. Mr. Hitchcock was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of First Baptist Church in Elizabethton. He was a plant engineer, a business man, and enjoyed raising cattle and piddling on the farm.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty years, Jeanette Souder Hitchcock of the home; a son, Bill G. Hitchcock, Jr.; of Elizabethton; two grandsons, Jacob Hitchcock and his wife, Britney; Joshua Hitchcock, all of Elizabethton; two great-grandchildren, Abraham Hitchcock, Riley Hitchcock; and a brother-in-law, Paul Souder, of Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A service to honor the life of Mr. Hitchcock will be conducted on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev.
Todd Hallman officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday prior to the service, or at the home at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 10:45 AM at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be his son and grandsons with others to be selected from family and friends. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet the family at the cemetery at 10:40 AM on Friday.

The family would like to express a special and heartfelt thank you to Paramedics, Jason Davenport, Chad Hamilton and Jacob Hitchcock, the Elizabethton/Carter County Emergency Rescue Squad, the doctors and staff of the Regional Cancer Center and the Johnson City Heart Hospital, for the care and support given to Mr. Hitchcock and the family.
