William (Bill) R. Jensen, 80, of Logan, UT passed away at home on Saturday, January 12, from pulmonary fibrosis. Bill was born on September 17, 1938 to Julius P. Jensen and Ida Fern Holt Jensen. Bill was the last of a family of five boys.

He grew up on a farm in Trenton, and loved helping his Dad and brothers. He graduated from North Cache High School in 1956. After High School he continued to work on the farm and various other jobs.

Eventually he met the woman who would change his life, Sylvia Martha Mathys. Sylvia inspired him to make the most of life and he enrolled at Utah State University. They were married on August 6, 1965 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Bill graduated from USU with a BS degree in 1967 and a MS degree in 1968 in History and Political Science. He worked for Thiokol Corporation for many years as a property administrator and writer. It was always Bill’s dream to write a historical novel and after his retirement from Thiokol his dream came true.

He authored a novel entitled Adder in the Path. He was also an accomplished poet. Bill enjoyed motorcycling, bicycling, traveling, and hiking with his beloved dogs.

Bill and Sylvia travelled to Canada and the Western US on their motorcycle. After retirement they embarked on cruises to the Caribbean, Hawaii and the Mediterranean. For their 50th wedding anniversary they travelled to Germany and Switzerland.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, J. Wayne, Paul H. and Joseph K. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sylvia and their two sons, Christopher (Karla) Jensen and Eric (Erin) Jensen, a granddaughter Kylie, and grandson Taylor. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Scott, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs Belle and Mollie. The family would like to thank the hospice team, Josh, Christine and especially his nurse Amanda for all the wonderful care they gave Bill.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cache Humane Society or Four Paws in Bill’s honor. It was Bill’s final wish to be cremated and not have a funeral. Arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan.
