William “Bill” W. Niebuhr– Bill was born on July 8, 1928 in East Orange, NJ to John and Myrtle Niebuhr. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 9, 2018 after celebrating 90 years of life. Bill lived life to the fullest.

He spent his summers working on the Jersey Shore and was drafted into the Army in 1951. He was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in 1956 after his Korean War tour. In 1958 he moved to Akron and married is wife, Marlene, on September 6.

They had two wonderful children, Kenneth and Pamela. Bill spent his entire career in the tire industry with General Tire. He traveled a lot, but always made time to take vacations as a family in the Volkswagen camper.

He was a Cub Scout leader, a Girl Scout aide, member of the P.T.A., taught Junior Achievement, and chaperoned many trips for his son, daughter, and granddaughter, Melanie. Bill loved visiting Melanie’s farm and talking to her about business, goals, and dreams. One of his most favorite hobbies was building model sailing ships and airplanes with his grandson, Andrew.

You could also find him in the bleachers watching a sporting event and especially loved seeing granddaughter, Gina, at gymnastics or volleyball. He was an active member of KWVA 138 and one of his greatest memories was being selected for the Honor Flight in 2015. He also spent time playing with his grand-dogs, white water rafting, using his label maker, and simply loving life.
