William C Sousa March 28, 1925 – February 03, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card William Sousa, 93, of Swansea, formerly of New Bedford, passed away on February 3rd at Grace Barker Nursing Home in Warren. He was the husband of Estelle (Picard) Sousa. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Mary F.(Motta) and Joseph C. Sousa, he worked as a cloth cutter and pattern maker in New Bedford factories.

In his retirement his hobbies included woodworking and travel. A WW II Navy Veteran, he served in the European theater including Anzio and D-Day where he was wounded, earning a Purple Heart. He was a member of New Hope Church in Swansea.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael Sousa (Jane) Westport, Linda Curtin (Craig) Litchfield, NH, Brenda Helger (Russell) Tiverton, and Mark Sousa (Lee Ann) Hopkinton, MA. He also leaves 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was also the husband of the late Irene (Furtado) Sousa.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at the Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home, 462 Main Rd. Tiverton, RI at 8am. Private burial to follow at St. John’s Cemetery in New Bedford.
