William E. Gilcrest age 72 years of Gibbstown died Wednesday February 6, 2019 in Cooper Hospital, Camden with his family by his side. Bill was born in Woodbury, raised in Paulsboro and graduated from St. James High School in Carneys Point. He was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force.

Bill retired as a shift supervisor after 37 years of service with Atlantic City Electric in Deepwater. He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Michael’s Church and St. Michael’s Mutual Club in Gibbstown. Bill enjoyed working on classic cars, especially Corvettes and attending car shows where he won many trophies.

He also built and flew model planes, collected Hess trucks and had a large S gauge American Flyer train layout in his basement. Most of all, he liked celebrating family milestones, large family dinners with his children, his pet dogs and caring for his home and lawn on Swedesboro Road. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Gilcrest (nee Thomas) of Gibbstown; his children, Christopher Sr. and Carla Gilcrest of Gibbstown, Anthony Gilcrest of Swedesboro, Nicholas Gilcrest of Gibbstown; his grandchildren, Christopher Jr. and Morgan Gilcrest; his sister, Rosemarie Gilcrest of Paulsboro; his nephew, William “Pepe” Gilcrest and his sister in law, Kathleen Thomas Coniglio.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday February 13, 2019 in St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Michael’s Church, Memorial Ave. , Gibbstown. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Wednesday morning after 10 AM until Mass time.
