William E. Taylor February 05, 1943 – January 18, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook William Edward ‘Red’ Taylor, 75, of Palmyra, VA passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 18, 2019 at his Lake Monticello home. Born February 5, 1943 in Charlottesville, VA, he was the son of William and Margaret Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 47 years, Betty Taylor.

Red worked with the local telephone company for most of his career and enjoyed sharing stories about his experiences. His favorite pastime was talking with people and making friends wherever he went. He was known for his quick wit, corny jokes, infectious smile, and his kind and generous spirit.

He is survived by his daughter, Robyn Taylor Widdifield and her husband Chad Widdifield of Afton; daughter Rhonda Cook and her husband Mark of Palmyra; son Kevin Hoke and his wife Kimberly, of Winchester. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Brock Cook, Stephanie Keiter, Kevin Hoke Jr., Danielle MacHardy, Casey and Tyler Widdifield; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Martha T. Cosner, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Hill and Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish to make a memorial contribution can send a donation to the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire & Rescue, 10 Slice Road Palmyra, VA 22963.
