Betty Lee Marsh Gentry April 27, 1934 – January 09, 2019 Share this obituary Local Florists Sign Guestbook Betty Lee Marsh Gentry, aged 85, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Monroe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Charlottesville. Betty Gentry was born on April 27, 1934 to the late John Marsh and the late Edith Pauline Marsh in Albemarle County. She was married to the love of her life on October 27, 1955 – the late Walter Deane Gentry for 49 years.

Betty worked at a soda fountain in the 1950s, later at the old Charlottesville Pencil factory and finally moved on to General Electric, where she worked the job she loved, from the time of the company’s opening until just before its closure. Along with her parents and husband, Betty is predeceased by her siblings; John Marsh Jr., Doris Marie Marsh Johnson, Annie Elizabeth Marsh Gibson, and Thomas Marsh. Betty Gentry is survived by her two sons; Michael Wayne and his wife Melanie, and Glen Allen and his wife Teresa, a grandson; Allen Cole Gentry and his girlfriend Amber Nicole Putman, a granddaughter; Sirena and her husband Manny Martinez of Aurora, Colorado, great grandchildren; Autumn Martinez, Trey Martinez, and Arabella Francis Gentry, her nieces; Gloria Morgan with her husband Ronald of Troy, VA.

, Jeanette Wilkerson, Ann Clark, and Jackie Smith with her husband Randy, her nephews; Speedy Johnson, Dennis Johnson and his wife Lynn, John Marsh Jr., Steve Marsh and his wife Joyce, Clay Marsh and his wife Vickie, Billy Marsh and his wife Della, Thomas Marsh Jr., and his wife Donnetta, a great nephew; Jason Morgan and his wife Danica Kilander of Bellingham, WA. and many cousins and friends. Thanks to all who took the time to visit Betty.

The family offers a special thank you to the staff of the Monroe Health and Rehabilitation Center and to Ms. Stephanie Commander for the loving care they provided to Betty. The family will welcome friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Hill and Wood Funeral Home of Charlottesville. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Hill and Wood Chapel with burial following at Monticello Memorial Gardens.
