OBITUARY Tommy Barrett Ray April 9, 1940 – January 8, 2019 Tommy Barrett Ray, 78, of Charlottesville, passed away on January 8, 2019. Tommy was born on April 9, 1940, in Charlottesville, Va. , to Alma Barnett Ray and Gentry Samuel Ray.

He worked at UVA’s Printing Services for 51 years. Tommy was an avid gardener, who raised and sold various produce. He also loved the mountains, and enjoyed cutting firewood for friends and family.

Tommy liked taking fishing trips with his brother Paul on the Rappahannock River. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gentry and Russell; and two sisters, Beulah and Emily. Tommy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Ray; daughter, Dana Golder; brother, Paul Ray; sister, Ethel Keckley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 2 p.m., at Mooreland Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Clay Marsh will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
