William Everett Webber, 93, of Urbana passed away at 4:55 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory in Urbana. Burial will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana.

William was born on March 11, 1925 in Urbana to parents Marion E. and Anna R. (Moody) Webber. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his brother Donald Webber.

On September 5, 1953 William married Betty L. Hartsell in his parents’ house in Urbana, she survives. Also surviving are their children; Bonnie J. Webber of Lake Geneva, WI, Bruce R. Webber (Cynthia) of Wheaton, IL, Bryan D. Webber (Sheila Runyen) of Rochester, IL and William B. Webber (Judy) of Champaign. Two sisters; Lois Allhands Harpst of Champaign, Mary (Bill) Frederick of Urbana, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive him.

During his teenage years he worked in a foundry in Chicago. While working on a farm during WWII he decided to enlist in the United States Army Air Corps. William earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Illinois and for seventeen years was the Assistant Attorney General of the State of Illinois.

He also worked as an insurance adjuster for many years. William enjoyed water skiing on Lake Mattoon and photography, golf, fishing, farming, collecting model cars and bowling. He participated in Ballroom Dancing and was light on his feet.

His favorite activity was traveling with Betty; they traveled to all 50 states and all over Canada. William will be remembered for his calm demeanor, his dry sense of humor and for being a good conversationalist.
